Terabank shared its experience at a conference on the prevention of sexual harassment and the implementation of mitigation mechanisms

News 08 December 2023

Izabela Kandelaki, Head of Terabank’s Training Center, spoke about the bank’s practice concerning sexual harassment at a conference on the prevention of sexual harassment and the implementation of mitigation mechanisms which was held on November 29.

Terabank started working on the issue of sexual harassment in the workplace at the end of 2022 following a decision from the bank’s management. Taking care of employees and protecting their rights while creating a safe and equal work environment is a priority in the bank. The goal of the initiative was to maintain a high corporate standard and the timely introduction of modern approaches vis-à-vis sexual harassment in the workplace.

Izabella Kandelaki told conference participants about the steps taken to prevent sexual harassment at Terabank, in particular, she highlighted that relevant documents and mechanisms were created with the help of the Public Defender's Office and awareness-raising trainings were held for high and middle-level managers.

Currently, similar trainings are being held in Terabank branches across the regions. The trainings will serve to maintain a healthy, non-discriminatory, and value-based working environment for employees while strengthening the image of the bank as an attractive employer, something which is ultimately beneficial for any company.

The conference was held within the 16-day global campaign against gender-based violence. It was held on the initiative of the UN Women's Organization, the USAID Rule of Law Program, and the Council of Europe Office in Georgia.
