BSTDB Expands Support to Georgian SMEs and Trade with Combined Financing to Terabank

News 21 October 2025

The Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) has expanded its partnership with Terabank JSC through a new financing package designed to strengthen support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and promote trade development in Georgia.
Under the agreement, BSTDB approved a EUR 5 million five-year SME Facility and increased its existing Trade Finance Facility by USD 2 million, bringing the total to USD 7 million.

The new SME Facility will provide Terabank with long-term funding to on-lend to eligible SMEs across Georgia, helping to generate jobs, stimulate business activity, and foster sustainable economic growth. Meanwhile, the expanded Trade Finance Facility will enable Terabank to extend additional financing to Georgian exporters and importers, improving their competitiveness and facilitating stronger trade flows within the region and with other BSTDB member countries.

“With this new financing package, BSTDB is deepening its cooperation with Terabank to empower Georgian entrepreneurs and strengthen the country’s role in regional trade. Supporting SMEs and trade is central to our mandate, as it fuels innovation, creates jobs, and drives sustainable growth. Together with Terabank, we are helping Georgian businesses unlock new opportunities and enhance their competitiveness at home and abroad,” Dr. Serhat Köksal, President of BSTDB.

“We greatly value our long-standing partnership with BSTDB, which remains an important contributor to Georgia’s business development. This new financing package further strengthens our ability to empower small and medium-sized enterprises, the backbone of our economy, by improving their access to long-term funding and trade opportunities,”  Thea Lortkipanidze, CEO of Terabank

This cooperation underscores the shared goal of Terabank and BSTDB to enhance financial access for Georgian businesses and contribute to the country’s sustainable economic development.
