Authentic environment in Kakheti Hotel In Gremi

Hotel "In Gremi" opened its doors in 2023 in the picturesque village of Grem in Kakheti. The idea for the hotel emerged four years prior, leading to the commencement of construction.

"We previously operated a cellar in this area, producing wine from our vineyard's grapes. We saw an opportunity to create a family business. With our background in the hotel industry, we knew it wouldn’t be easy, but we were determined not to miss this chance. Now, five years after starting construction, the hotel is open and welcoming its first guests," says Nini Manasashvili, co-founder of Hotel "In Gremi."

Initially, the hotel—nestled in the stunning Kakheti landscape—was the only facility in operation. The property features a spacious yard, a large pool, and a building that combines traditional and modern design, harmonizing beautifully with its surroundings. A restaurant was soon added, offering guests a taste of traditional Kakheti cuisine.

"From the outset, we aimed to create an authentic Kakheti experience for our guests. This focus made crafting the menu straightforward. Our approach has been well-received, with guests enjoying traditional dishes made from local ingredients and wine from our cellar," Manasashvili explains.

Following a successful initial season, the founders acted on customer feedback by adding a large hall for events.

"We knew expanding with a new hall would be a significant financial investment, but it was a crucial step for business growth and attracting new customers. We had a longstanding relationship with Terabank and secured a business loan from them. Their tailored, comfortable service and support through the 'Produce in Georgia' program helped reduce our interest expenses," she adds.

Who is the "In Gremi" Hotel For?

"The hotel caters to all types of travelers. Families with young children are frequent visitors, likely drawn by the cozy environment. Our large yard and pool provide a fun and engaging experience for kids."

Tourism in Kakheti has surged this year, driven by the region's unique natural beauty, ancient architectural sites, and local cuisine. At Hotel "In Gremi," guests not only enjoy the local dishes but also get the chance to create them.

"Our cooking master classes are a highlight for our guests. They can participate in making khinkali, barbecuing, baking traditional Kakheti bread, or making churkhela, and then savor the dishes they’ve prepared themselves."

The hotel's founders have ambitious plans for the future. They intend to expand by adding more hotel rooms and constructing cottages on the property. This idea stemmed from guest demand and aims to offer a more diverse experience while capitalizing on the opportunities in the Kakheti region.

"Being a family business, we find decision-making about future plans quite manageable. Besides expanding the hotel, we’re already considering producing our own wine. While we know this will be challenging, we believe in our collective ability to succeed and overcome any obstacles," Manasashvili concludes.
